SengS Founder Murray Kerr New Pryme Group Chief Operating Officer

The founder of Aberdeenshire subsea engineering firm SengS has been promoted to a new role at the parent, Dundee-based Pryme Group.

Murray Kerr, who won the emerging leader gong at the 2016 Press and Journal Gold Awards, is now chief operating officer at Pryme.

Mr Kerr got SengS up and running at Balmacassie business park in Ellon at the start of 2012.

In late 2016, he sold a majority stake in the business to Pryme and later became commercial director for the new owner.

As COO, he will be responsible for developing the group’s long-term growth strategy by streamlining the business to make it more efficient, cutting costs and improving processes.

He said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to take on this new and exciting role where I can continue to play a vital role in the company’s success.” Kerrie Murray has joined Pryme as chief financial officer, having enjoyed more than 10 years working in the oil and gas industry.

Most recently, she was director of international finance at Forum Energy Technologies and responsible for a team covering six international locations.

Pryme, which aims to become a major player in the oil and gas, defence and aerospace sectors, booked sales worth £17.5 million during the year to March.
